Moving Forward

The idea of regrouping has been ongoing for a couple of months and seems to be working.

I have essentially retired -- AGAIN -- and have returned to some tabled previous pursuits and have also engaged in new activities more and more. This time, it only took me about 6 weeks to blog again. My timesheet has dropped precipitously from 40+ hours a week before the Holidays to under 10 weekly hours during the past month. We have had dinner with friends several times. We TRAVELED and have more travel plans in place! I finally took a Pilates class again, and managed to downhill ski 10 times and XC-ski 3 times. Furthermore, I tried and have thoroughly enjoyed playing PICKLEBALL.

This may not sound like much to most people, but it's a vast improvement for me as I try to regroup and improve my life status. Thankfully, the COVID-19 pandemic is being better controlled, instead of controlling everything and everyone. The wonky winter and my husband's knee surgery were two factors that impacted my attempts to change things. From a positive perspective, I've been prevented from overdoing it because the snow hasn't been great and I haven't wanted to leave him behind all the time. Another thing I'm grateful for: my husband's meticulous dedication to his rehabilitation has paid off, and just 9 weeks after his partial knee replacement, he was told that he could try Pickleball, which he has enjoyed enough that he asked that we get our own paddles and some of the wiffle-ly balls to practice with at home.

Resolutions are useless unless hopes and plans can move forward. At the same time, effective forward momentum that avoids backpedalling is desirable. Progress is so uplifting!
